Where Unwinding Takes Shape: Inside a Bespoke Wellness and Entertainment Centre

A project delivered in collaboration with E2 Architecture and interior designer Jess Cooper of Cooper & Cooper Interiors.

Unwinding rarely looks the same for everyone.

For some, it is found in movement – a session in the gym, a moment of focus before a busy day unfolds. For others, it arrives later, in the evening, at the bar, or with a glass of wine on the sofa.

For many, it’s both.

This project was shaped around that very sentiment. Not a single definition of relaxation, but a space that allows for different ways of switching off – depending on the day, moment, or simply who’s using it.

Arranged across a dedicated wellness suite and basement entertainment space, the brief was not to choose between function and enjoyment, but to allow them to coexist without compromise.

A Space for Movement

By day, the wellness suite becomes a space of focus.

The gym lies at its core, shaped around the family’s differing routines. Bespoke mirrored panels and cabinetry are tailored to specific equipment, ensuring that the space supports performance without ever feeling clinical.

Beyond, a sauna and steam room introduce a quieter rhythm, opening onto a discreet refreshment area where a concealed coffee and tea station sits alongside integrated refrigeration, hidden behind fully retractable doors. It is a space designed not just for recovery, but for pause – something often overlooked, yet rarely undervalued.

A shower room and adjoining bathroom connect the spaces, allowing for a natural, uninterrupted flow from one to the next.

Finished in an oak-stained clay tone, the joinery brings warmth and continuity across the suite – creating an environment that feels balanced, grounded and quietly resolved.

Set slightly apart, a dedicated treatment room offers a more private retreat. Complete with an en-suite and centred around an Elemis treatment bed, it allows for a deeper sense of stillness – one step removed from the rhythm of the rest of the home.

A Space for Evening

The basement level has been designed for a different kind of unwinding – one shaped by conversation, hosting and ease.

At its centre, a bespoke bar introduces a richer palette of materials. Backlit onyx forms a striking focal point, framed by bevelled antique mirrored panels and stained walnut. It is a space that feels atmospheric without excess – equally suited to spontaneous evenings or more considered gatherings.

Behind its sculptural presence lies a fully integrated suite of appliances, including Sub-Zero refrigeration and wine storage, a Miele dishwasher and Quooker tap. Everything is carefully concealed, allowing the materiality to speak first.

Opposite, a dedicated wine room echoes the language of the bar, with a backlit onyx wall creating a quiet sense of continuity between the spaces.

A lounge area completes the setting, offering somewhere to settle into the evening – extending the sense of relaxation into a more social setting.

Designed Around Lifestyle

What defines this project is not simply the contrast between spaces, but how naturally they intersect. Different in palette and purpose, yet aligned in their emotional impact.

Some days begin in the gym and end at the bar. Others call just for one. Both are equally important.

This is where bespoke furniture becomes most meaningful.

Not in creating a singular vision for a space, but in allowing it to adapt to how will be used – supporting the rhythms of everyday life rather than dictating them.

At Chamber Furniture, we design with this in mind. Spaces that adapt, like a chameleon – responding to routine, allowing for both stillness and occasion, without forcing either.

Because the most successful interiors are not those that follow set rules, but those shaped around how people live – making space for all variations of it.

Every Chamber Furniture project begins with a conversation.
