From Gucci Green to the Nijinsky Ballet – Every Element with Intent

At Chamber Furniture, we believe that every room should be more than simply beautiful. It should tell stories, spark memories, and reflect the souls of those who inhabit it.

In this remarkable home, we were once again delighted to collaborate with interior designer Lyn Goddard of HSI Designs, bringing her vision of French romance to life – a space where vibrant colour, intricate craftsmanship, and moments of delightful surprise combine to extraordinary effect.

The Master Bedroom: An Ode to French Romance

Step into this Master bedroom, and you’re enveloped by an atmosphere of luxurious intimacy. Designed as an ode to French romance, the space blends sumptuous textures, carefully curated colours, and meticulous detail to create setting that is at once opulent and deeply personal.

At the heart of the room, a dramatic feature wall frames a tapestry with a vivid splash of green – no ordinary green, but the very shade of Gucci. True to her eye for detail, Lyn matched the colour to her own Gucci sunglasses case, seeking a tone that felt vibrant yet measured – striking a delicate balance of theatre and sophistication.

This distinctive green flows seamlessly across the bespoke wardrobes, crafted by Chamber Furniture to Lyn’s precise specifications and tailored to the client’s individual clothing collection. Each wardrobe door is etched with fine brass inlays, echoing the antique pendant light overhead, adding a further layer of quiet grandeur. Even the tassels and passementerie take their cue from Gucci, lending subtle couture-inspired flourishes that elevate the room into a realm where fashion and interior design beautifully converge.

The surrounding walls are painted in a finely tuned shade by Edward Bulmer, softened by a subtle 20% reduction in strength. This gentle backdrop allows the bold greens and gleaming brass accents to pervade without overwhelming the space.

Throughout this master suite, Chamber Furniture’s craftsmanship is ever-present. Bedside tables are crowned with beautifully veined 30mm marble, imparting both cool elegance and tactile luxury. The walls are wrapped in exquisite fabric panels – sourced by Lyn from Alidad at Chelsea Furnishings – hand-embroidered and chosen both for their acoustic properties and their luxurious appearance. Together, these elements create a cocooning atmosphere, perfect for retreating from the world outside.

The Secret Door to the Dressing Room

Concealed within the fabric panelling lies one of our favourite feats of design illusion – a secret door. Invisible to the casual eye, it opens to reveal a sumptuous dressing room beyond, allowing the wall panelling to flow uninterrupted. It’s these unexpected moments of ingenuity that define our bespoke projects, where we craft not just furniture, but entire experiences.

A Dressing Room in Layers

Beyond the secret door, the dressing room unfolds in a rich palette of burgundy lacquer. Here, Chamber Furniture crafted Catalan shaker-style wardrobes fitted with carefully chosen Beardmore handles, allowing the vibrant treatment to shine.

For Lyn, colour is never just a surface – it’s a story. The deep burgundy finish is inspired by American designer Mario Buatta in the 1960s and ‘70s. The process begins with a bright bubble-gum pink base, layered and glazed until it deepens into a glossy aubergine. Interestingly, the topcoat itself is a familiar shade – Brinjal by Farrow & Ball – transformed through the layered process into a finish alive with depth and character.

In this space, bespoke cabinetry provides generous and elegantly organised storage, echoing the meticulous detail seen in the bedroom. The antique pendant light, inspired by the Ballets Russes’ Indian and Persian stories as danced by Nijinsky, hangs gracefully from a tented ceiling – a personal touch evoking childhood memory, while imbuing the room with timeless nostalgia.

Bespoke Design without Compromise

This master suite stands as a testament to how interiors can transcend function and become a canvas for personal storytelling. From the Gucci-green feature wall to the richly layered dressing room, every detail has been carefully imagined by Lyn Goddard with all furniture precisely crafted by Chamber Furniture.

Because for us, true luxury isn’t just about how a space looks – it’s about how it makes you feel.

Every Chamber Furniture project begins with a conversation. If you’re imagining a space that tells your story, we’d love to hear from you.
