Bespoke Bar, Moulin Rouge Marble, midnight bronze wire racking and mirored wire racking

For the first time, our Kent showroom functions as a curated flow of ideas, rather than one display impinging on the next. What we now have is an accurate representation of how we approach whole-home bespoke interiors.

Over the years our showroom has undergone many transformations. We’ve seen bright orange room dividers alongside our teal dresser, traditional solid oak, and burr dressing rooms. However, while we’ve moved with the times, one thing we’d never addressed, was curating the showroom as a whole. One display would be transformed or repainted anew, while another alongside it would have the same encounter a year later. So, when taking the opportunity to refresh our approach and really make it the Chamber Home, we started to think of our workplace as we would a residential property.

Really, we were fed up with pretend reality, and wanted to create an immersive experience that just makes sense, in a practical and homely way.

Arriving at The Old Timber Yard

As you open the door, our boot room is the first thing you will see, creating the impression of a home. Look to your right, and you’ll gain an insight into the workshop and the close relationship between our craft and the finished product. It’s designed, made and handled by us at every stage, and you see these connections when you visit.

The boot room offers a wraparound welcome, greeting you on arrival and seeing you out at the end of your visit. It’s not a house, but a home. While it’s complete with props, it’s fully functional. And as the wet weather looms, the umbrella stand will be put to good use by our staff after a soggy commute, and by visitors too, so feel free to use it as the space demands!

Rooms that Belong to one and other

Each space is still complete, but they also belong together, speaking the same design language as our furniture would in a real home. One room should work with the next, though there are no strict rules to design (infact, we encourage you to be bold!). What does matter is that spaces in the same eyeline, yes, I mean those open-plan ones, must not cause a headache. This goes particularly for colour and material.

Having the opportunity to tackle multiple spaces in phases, coupled with a fresh lick of paint to tie in our existing stars of the show, has meant that we’ve been able to fix this bother, creating a more enjoyable user experience and a calmer atmosphere for our designers to work with everyday.

We’ve considered everything from our designers’ desks to the meeting table where clients come with large architectural plans and paint samples alike. Our approach to bespoke interiors is now honestly reflected in our showroom, rather than our portfolios having to do all the talking.

Discovery

By creating different zones, visitors can discover spaces they never knew we made, and sometimes ones they never knew they wanted. We know it can be a slippery slope!

It’s a discovery that tends to invite new discussion: visitors come with a kitchen in mind, then decide that the way they use the space might extend to a media wall to encourage open-plan living and spending time with loved ones. That said, our approach is entirely unpressured, and visitors have complete freedom to browse our showroom at their own pace.

There are smaller surprises too. It might be that you hadn’t considered an ice trough integrated into a bespoke bar to make entertaining easier, or perhaps you never knew personalised spice racks or walnut chopping boards matching the grain of your kitchen were an option. Whatever it might be, we'd like to think there’s always an element of surprise.

Like our retractable doors concealing our new bar. As we welcome the festive season, we can’t wait to throw open the retractables and enjoy a cocktail or two as a Chamber team this Christmas. But in all honesty, there’s a reason for keeping it locked away, and it’s not just because it could be all too tempting each working week!

We never tire of the intrigue and the sense of mystery it creates. At the moment of reveal, we like to see surprised faces: what looked like a run of stained walnut cladding, or even a wardrobe, turns out to be a bar.

But this also speaks for our clients. Secret doors have long been popular, and our clients often love the option to showcase their assets equally as much as hiding them away. Different factors call for different desires: the time of day, which visitors are coming round, what’s hidden behind the doors, space, children, and the list goes on… Designing multi-functional spaces offers that choice. Because somethings just can’t be planned for.

From the Workshop to the Meeting Table

Another advantage of our in-house service is that, during a design meeting, a sample in a specific bespoke finish that isn’t already in our material library can be with you in just minutes. Straight from the workshop downstairs, we can arrange for it to be made while your meeting progresses. It’s a first-class end-to-end service and that’s what we mean.

With five in-house designers, it’s rare they are all our on site at once (yet this can happen), so usually there’ll be one on hand to answer your queries. However, if you’d like to guarantee dedicated time in our designers’ diaries, we recommend booking an appointment in advance to ensure that the best suited person is on hand to help.

Welcome, wander, discover the bespoke possibilities at your own pace in our refurbished Kent showroom. You’ll be greeted and waved goodbye by our boot room, echoing the end-to-end nature of our service.

We look forward to meeting you.
